Señorita Gato Espíritu de Libre

Senorita de Libre’s inspiration and form was conceived partly from the short-haired Asian Cat with its extra-large ears, triangular head, almond-shaped eyes, unusually large front paws and elongated body. She was mostly slow stitched in San Miguel de Allende and a bit in Venice Ca.

As I put her together I thought of her thusly, a most proud woman.  She has earned every one of her life experienced medals and stripes.  She has been busily navigating through the freedoms, barriers, and goals in this game of life we all share. Espiritu Libre is a mixed bag of cultures and identities.

Comprised of Washed-Linen scraps, White with simple and pleasing Black printed motif Mud- cloths. Vintage-Coins from different countries and a few Mexican Milagros. The Coins representing her life achievement awarded metals, and Mexican Milagros, her good luck charms.  The vintage doll body’s cover is a Beigey Cotton fabric over straw type of material insides. I left the original time worn leather lower arms exposed that her big paws are attached too.
